Postpartum Meals

Postpartum Meals

Postpartum looks different every single time. Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, no two recoveries are the same. Sometimes you’re healing while caring for older children, sometimes you need more rest than expected, and sometimes even the thought of cooking feels overwhelming.

That’s why preparing meals ahead of time can be such a gift. Having nourishing food ready to go removes one more thing from your plate during a season that already asks so much of you. It lightens the mental load, saves time, and makes it easier to prioritize healing, bonding, and rest.

A few weeks before Ace was born, I invited a few girlfriends over and we spent the night making freezer meals together—and it was honestly game changing. We cooked, chatted, laughed, and stocked the freezer full of meals for those early newborn days. Not only was it such a sweet memory, but I went almost three weeks postpartum without having to cook a single meal.

Now that felt like a blessing.

If you’re preparing for postpartum (or simply wanting easy meals on hand), here are six freezer-friendly meals that made this recovery season so much smoother:

Homemade Blueberry Muffins (high protein and perfect for quick breakfasts)
Southern Style Ground Beef Casserole
Breakfast Burritos
Chicken Fajitas
Sticky Bourbon Chicken with Rice
Chinese Beef and Broccoli

(P.S. I did swap many of the ingredients to make these meals healthier! Honey instead of sugar, no cornstarch ect ect.)

You can easily search Pinterest or Instagram for postpartum freezer meal ideas that fit your own tastes, dietary needs, or recovery goals—but these were simple, comforting meals I knew I’d actually enjoy and that would freeze well.

Preparing food ahead of time may seem small, but in postpartum it can feel huge. Sometimes love looks like rest, support, and a warm meal you only had to reheat. 🤍
