Every Woman was Made to be a Mother

Every Woman was Made to be a Mother

You were made to be a mother.
I don’t mean that every woman reading this God has called to biologically grow and nurture children with their own bodies.
What I mean, is that every part of a woman’s body, mind, and soul points towards motherhood.
Physically. We have bigger hips, to birth and to hold babies on. We have breasts to provide nourishment for our kids. Our wombs are made to provide a shelter for children to grow.
Mentally. We’re more nurturing than men, we give ourselves freely. We can understand and sympathize with another person easily. We’re more keen to our emotions.

When I started doubting my ability to really be a mom, I started diving into spiritual reading and various talks. The talks that always struck me the most came from religious sisters.
Speaking so beautifully about how our entire being points us towards being a mother.
While sisters and nuns may not be having children of their own, they have HUNDREDS of spiritual children. They are spiritual mothers in every aspect.
I remember someone asking my sister, “so you didn’t want to be a mom, is that why you joined the convent?”
Without skipping a beat she answered, “you shouldn’t join the convent if you DON’T have the desire to be a mother”.
The desire for motherhood, biologically or spiritually isn’t something we need to learn. It’s not something we need to obtain, it’s a gift that God has given us as women.
Our very existence points us towards it.
It is only the world and the devil, himself, telling us differently.
